Summary of Dancing men


Sherlock homes have written many novels and is one of the great author of dancing men. The story of the dancing men starts when Holmes examining in a glass bottle. Suddenly Holmes asked  his friend that he is not going to buy any land in Africa.His friend Watson surprised. Holmes put his glass back on the table and said that it is very easy to arrive at one ideas and then other you are surprised because you look at the first and then the last. He told him that he noticed the chalk on his left thumb so he was sure that he is not going to buy any land in Africa .Holmes said that every problem becomes very simple when you understand it. Holmes give him a piece of paper and asked him to explain .Watson observed this drawing to be a childish work but later he was told that it was sent by Mr. Cubitt through post and he want to know too.

The door knocked and Mr. Cubitt came and asked Holmes whether he finds a solution. Holmes said that it seems to be a childish work but why this is so important for him .Mr Cubitt replied that he has no problem with this drawing but her wife is frightened. He hold this paper in the light behind and observed that this is the drawing made by pencil

Mr. cubit told that he belongs to a well known family in London he married a girl named Elsie. He married her without knowing anything  about her. They spend a happy life for some time but when Mrs. cubit received a letter from America she saw a stamp on it and then she never spoke.Mr cubit promised her wife never to ask about her life so asked Holmes to help him. Holmes understand that Mr.  Cubitt was an honest man. Cubitt told that there are small villages and hotels nearby them Mr. Holmes looks carefully on the drawing and ask him to go and come again next time if you know anything knew. Sherlock Holmes worried about mr cubit situation after two weeks passed Holmes has to go to cubit house as Cubitt received a telegram which threatens her wife and he told that he has some pictures of dancing men and has seen the person who draws them and told him that he found them on a small building in his garden.Mr. Cubitt continued his story by telling that sat in the office to observe that person but suddenly her wife came behind her and asked him to go for some holidays and to forget something she hold my arms tightly and do not let me go when I reached the garden I found the same piece of paper of dancing men.Mr cubit told that he is going with his wife for some days and do not let her wife alone as she become frightened as Mr cubit arrived. Holmes observed the paper for several minutes and then took the first train to the north walsham. Mr. Holmes was informed by the policemen that Mr. cubit was killed by her wife and then she tries to kill herself and is still alive. Sherlock Holmes went to Cubit’s where he met Inspector martin and came to know that that Mrs Cubit is still alive. The Gun is shot in front of the head of Mrs. Cubitt but was shot in the heart of Mr. Cubitt but the same gun is fired twice.

                       Sherlock Holmes and the inspector martin listen the story of a servant girl that she was sleeping when she heard the sound of the gun shot and she told that they loved each other and never argue or quarrelling before the murder when the gun was shot Mr. Cubitt lying on the floor and Mrs. Cubitt is silent and there was a smell of the gun in the room. Holmes is examining the room of Cubitt where he found Mr. Cubitt as he waked from his sleep in his night dress and gun is shot in front of him. According to the doctor the blood is found on the head of Mr.Cubitt and not in the hands of Cubitt. Holmes told that three bullets are fired from the gun two is fired at both of them and one is fired at the bottom of the window and it must be the killer. Sherlock Holmes observed that the door of the room and window is opened when the gun is fired. He told that the first shot is fired from the room. He also found a lady purse containing twenty five pounds.Mr Holmes went outside the window to the flower garden where he saw many flowers are broken which shows that someone is sitting behind the window and some bullets leave pieces of metal. A boy told Mr. Holmes that a servant named Elrige was living quite long away from riddling and is very lonely farmer. The face expression of Holmes changed at once and he asked the boy to take the pieces of paper to Mr. Slaney and told the inspector that soon he will be able to take the killer with him.
